They are a large group of Amazigh (Berber) tribes who inhabit Libya, southern Algeria, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Chad. The largest number has been in Mali and Niger.

LANGUAGE AND WRITING.
The Touareg spoke the Berber language is known as tamajaq, also called Tamsheq and Tamahaq, depending on the region they inhabited, which seem to have several dialects and spoken in different regions (Greenbag, 1970).
The language is called Tamasheq by western Touareg in mali, Tamahaq among Algerian and Libyan Touareg and Tamajaq by Niger and Burkina Faso.
The Touareg distinguished themselves among other Berber during their ancient times in Amazigh by preserving the dialect of Tamazight, their letters Tifinagh from right to left and from top to bottom and vice versa. Tifinagh, also called Tifinar or shifting the origin of Tifinagh, is the version of Libyco Berber.
The Tifinagh script is written by tradition in the stone, trunk and in sand and is very difficult to read. A shred of archaeological evidence believes that the existence of Touareg in the desert since ancient times.
Ibn BATUTA
In his Written about his famous trips in Africa had this to say about the Touareg: They are morabiteen state assets, and generally, the Touareg tribes are Sinhaja. Ibn Khaldun called the Touareg masked people, and like all Arab historians, he classified them in the second layer of Sinhaja.
According to some white and Arab historians, the Berber dialect they speak is already one of the ancient Arab dialects.
