South Africa: The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in Limpopo joins the arts and entertainment fraternity in mourning the passing of a renowned talented comedian and actress, Lebogang Mpyana, aka ‘Queen Skwatakwata’ ‘Khelina of Diep City’, who hails from Mmotong wa Perekisi, just outside Seshego in Polokwane.
MEC Nakedi Kekana has shared her deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. “We have all loved to watch Lebogang grow in her craft, mesmerized by her “Khelina” character on Deep City telenovela. We are heartbroken and wish her family great strength during this difficult time,” said MEC Kekana.
The MEC says the performing arts sector has lost a committed woman who enjoyed her craft to the fullest.
Post scooping a Viewers’ Choice Best Actress Award at the Royalty Soapie Award, the department joined the country in celebrating her success and was defined as the Limpopo Province’s Pride and Joy.
Her talent has been evident in the Province as she has featured in several theatre productions performed at the Mapungubwe Festival Theatre over the years. She has also forever been available to MC programmes of the Department, including the Mapungubwe Arts Festival.
The Department deepens its banner in her remembrance. Moreover, the whole of South Africa is in deep shock. The family of the actress and comedian Lettie Lebogang’s side warned social media users to refrain from posting and tagging the account of Lettie.
This after the speculations news making rounds on social media saying that she has passed away. The spokesperson, T Mpyana, says that all the announcements will be made in due course. T Mpyana has written using Lettie’s account.
