St Kitts and Nevis: Sixteen gifted students from St Kitts and Nevis will get the opportunity to pursue their higher education in Republic of China (Taiwan). The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in St kitts and Nevis has awarded these scholarships to students during a brief ceremony on Friday.
The scholarships were awarded under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) scholarships programme and the International Cooperation and Development Fund. The Embassy of Taiwan hosted the presentation ceremony at the Palm’s Court Gardens.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was present at the awards ceremony along with Minister Dr Geoffery Hanley, the Deputy Prime Minister. The officials have shared that the attendants of the scholarship handover ceremony included the Cabinet Secretary Marcus Natta and families of the recipient students.
The Resident Ambassador of Taiwan to St Kitts and Nevis Michael Lin represented the govrnmnt of Taiwan during the ceremony.
The Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley extended his profound best wishes to the recipients of the scholarship. Further, PM Dr Terrance Drew also extended his best wishes to the students. He also thanked the Government of Republic of China (Taiwan) for their generous support.
PM Drew shared some images from the venue of the ceremony and advised the students to make the most of the opportunity. He urged the students to work hard and excel in their studies overseas.
The Prime Minister urged that the students must use the knowledge and skills they gain to contribute to the development of St Kitts and Nevis. The partnership between St Kitts and Nevis and the Republlic of China (Taiwan) extends beyond the education sector.
The nations have collaborated on several projects of mutual benefit and helped in the development of the federation. Prime Minister acknowledged that this is the greatest scholarships that students from St Kitts and Nevis have received from the government of Taiwan.
The embassy of Taiwan also extended their best wishes to the 16 students who received the scholarships for Tertiary Education. The embassy said that these students will be going to Taiwan as the embassadors of St Kitts and Nevis.
