South Africa: The reaction unit South Africa has apprehended two men in Phoenix KZN after they were found in possession of stolen goods. The reaction officers have revealed that they also recovered a bakkie full of stolen goods from the suspects.
The arrest was made on Wednesday afternoon, According the RUSA officers, they were conducting a high density operation in Phoenix KZN area. At the time, the members of the public alerted them of a theft which happened at the construction site.
The officials have shared that the caller informed the on-duty controller that he saw two males leaving the construction site in an Isuzu bakkie. The suspects had several steel beams, which they had stolen from the site, in their possession.
The caller also gave the reaction officers a description of the vehicle that was used, along with its registration numbers. The officials immediately responded to the reports and searched for the specified vehicle.
According to the reports the officers located the Isuzu Bekkie approximately one kilometer away from the construction site. The stolen goods were also recovered safely.
The left rear tyre and side shaft of the Bekkie detached from the differential while the suspects tried to make their getaway. Afterwards, the Reaction Unit South Africa apprehended the two males in the car.
Further investigation into the matter revealed that one of the suspects was an employee in the construction company. He hired the vehicle belonging to the second suspect with the aim of loading the stolen goods . The first individual wanted to take the goods to a scrap yard.
The reaction unit in South Africa contacted the construction company owner, who wanted to file a criminal case. Both men were handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.
The incident has garnered a significant reaction from the country’s people. They stated that what happened to the suspects was most likely the result of their actions. The officials of RUSA were also appreciated for their quick action in the situation.
