South Africa: The SA Weather Service has issued an advisory for level-4 disruptive rainfall over Cape Town and the surrounding municipalities. The report covers advisory from midnight Sunday, October 27, 2024 until the early hours of Monday, October 28, 2024.
As per the weather predictions, widespread showers and thundershowers will be observed along with the windy conditions.
Moreover, there are possibilities that potential impacts could include localised flooding of settlements and roads, will also include damage to the property and infrastructure.
Considering the severe weather conditions that will occur soon, all city services available for Cape Town will be put on stand-by to deal with any impacts from the forecast.
The weather advisory officials advised the public to please take heed of the currently released advisory. They are allowed to start implementing any possible mitigation measures around their properties in the interim.
Notably, this would include clearing out the drainage systems and cleaning of gutters. It will also include removal of dead tree branches and other obstructions by digging trenches around their homes to divert water away.
The weather advisory was released officially on October 25, 2024 at 1:45 p.m. referring to these sudden weather changes the officials have asked the residents of Cape Town to save the Public Emergency Communication Centre’s contact number on their cell-phone, in case they need to contact in an emergency.
