Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister of Saint Lucia Ernest Hilaire attended Routes World 2023 in Istanbul. It was a three-day visit in which DPM Hilaire conducted meetings and discussions with the major airlines.
Saint Lucia wishes to increase the airline facilities to grow the tourism sector.
During a recent announcement, Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire revealed that Routes World 2023 has officially commenced.
This annual event serves as a platform for airlines, airports, destination marketing agencies, and aviation stakeholders to come together and discuss ways to improve air services and establish new routes on a global scale.
Deputy PM Hilaire said, ” Yesterday was the start of Routes World 2023 in Istanbul. This annual gathering brings together airlines, airports, destination marketing agencies and aviation stakeholders from across the world to discuss how to strengthen air services and establish new routes.”
He also said that this year, the event will facilitate presentations and discussions between stakeholders on various aspects of the industry, especially future growth and development.
In the three day meeting, Saint Lucia Tourism Minister Ernest Hilaire had discussions with the major airlines as his government seeks to establish more connectivity between airlines and increase the number of seats available for visitors to Saint Lucia.
As per the reports, the Saint Lucia government is planning for significant growth in room stock, which will take place from 2025/26.
Moreover, Namibia Airports Company Limited, led by Board Chairperson Leake Hangala and CEO Bisey /Uirab, are attending the ongoing Routes World 2023, 15-17 October, in Istanbul, Turkey.
Not only will the Saint Lucia ministers attend the event, but this event will bring together airlines, airports and aviation stakeholders worldwide to build air services and global economic growth. Malaysia’s tourism sector also took part under the umbrella of MAHB Booth.
ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira also shares the airport perspective in the Powerhouse Panel: State of the Industry. He was joined by Maribel Rodriguez, Senior VP at World Travel & Tourism Council; Peter Cerdá, Regional VP International Air Transport Association (IATA); and Yolanta Strikitsa, Mangaing Director at Strikitsa Consulting.
The panel was moderated by Victoria Moores, European Editor/Bureau Chief at Air Transport World.
