Saint Lucia: The Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia Ernest Hilare, led the establishment of the Morne Lay By Park as an alternative venue for its Morne Lay By vendors.
A launch of the park was executed on Sunday 8th October. 2023, which saw the convergence of vendors and industry stakeholders.
The information about the opening was shared by the Tourism Minister, Ernest Hilare, on his official social media account, in which he mentioned, “It was a pleasure yesterday to open the temporary location for the Morne Lay-By officially.”
He also said that “the original structure was compromised, and we had to make a decision to demolish it. As we prepare to construct a new one, we immediately moved to establish a temporary space to allow vendors to continue their business.”
Tourism Minister Hilare also thanked the Permanent Secretary of Saint Lucia and the staff, as well as the architect, for the urgency with which they attended to this project.
He also thanked the vendors for their cooperation and said, “Very soon, I will share the conceptual designs of the new facility.”
Local residents of Saint Lucia seemed excited and shared their excitement on the Tourism Minister’s Facebook page. One of the users, Leon Camille, said, “I am not into politics, but both governments are doing great, and our health care and roads also need to be fixed.”
