The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, was present at the first construction of the Northern Divisional Police Headquarters on Monday, October 23, 2023. While there, the Prime Minister got the opportunity to turn the sod for the construction. He shared some images of the ongoing construction.
At the same time, the prime minister and minister of National Security also spoke of the first time that he visited the establishment of the Gros Islet Police Station. Prime Minister planned to construct a new police facility. He shared that he got even more assurance during his visit that the decision was urgent and important.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia shared that the previous administration had paused this project since May 2017. He shared that due to this decision of the last administration, our police officers and the public operated from a facility that was not fit for purpose.
On October 23, 2023, The prime minister got the opportunity to be present at the construction site of the new police facility.
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre shared that he was overwhelmed to turn the sod for the construction of the Northern Divisional Police Headquarters. The structure of the facility will be financed under a Build-Own-Lease-Transfer [BOLT] agreement with the NIRPO/NIC.
Further, the prime minister shared that the facility is expected to be completed in 18 months. The site boasts state-of-the-art facilities for the training of officers and other administrative departments. A maintenance agreement will also form part of this deal to ensure that the investment of the taxpayers of this country is protected.
The Prime Minister also announced that he will continue to invest in the men and women of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Through this initiative, the Prime Minister wants to ensure that they have the requisite training and resources to deliver quality citizen security.
