Zimbabwe: Sakhile Dube from Bulawayo has emerged as the winner of Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024 on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
The Bulawayo beauty claimed the title and triumphed over 17 other talented models in a dazzling ceremony that held at the Harare Hippodrome.
Reportedly, there were eighteen beauties who vied for the crown and has been on model Brooke Bruk-Jackson’s head since the 2023.
The 27-year-old Sakhile Dube from Bulawayo walked away with the top prize which was brand-new 2020 Mercedes Benz C200 vehicle, among many other prizes.
As per the sources, Ruvimbo Jomboro was crowned as Miss Universe Zimbabwe Second Princess, while Lisa Sibanda secured the First Princess title.
Considering this, Miss Universe Zimbabwe Chairperson – Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga praised the significant improvement of the contestants compared to the last year.
Chiwenga said that she doesn’t wish to be in the shoes of the judges because what she saw today is something else. The way they walk has improved and has also improved their pose.
“I know some people who were here last year and who can testify that 2024 is far much better, so I wish you all the best in whatever you’re going to choose,” expressed Chairperson Chiwenga.
She added further to her statement that they would also like to thank the designers who made the dresses, they showcased that Zimbabwe is rising and they are going to the international stage and are not at all apologetic about it.
Notably, a distinguished panel of judges has oversaw the competition that involved former First Lady – Amai Grace Mugabe, renowned event planner Kevin ‘The Wedding Planner’, model – Brita Masalethulini and Miss South Africa 2022 – Ndavi Nokeri.
For the past five years, Bulawayo Fashion Model had her sights set on becoming the ‘Queen of Zimbabwe’ and aims to secure the prestigious Miss Universe Zimbabwe title.
Sakhile Dube’s name and story is not that familiar in local and regional pageantry circles. She has participated in numerous pageant contests where she has experienced both wins and losses, along with including regional awards.
Dube has won titles such as Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2020, Miss Earth Zimbabwe 2022, Miss Supranational Africa and Supra Top Model in 2023.
Dube’s journey has equipped her with confidence and a competitive edge for international stages. With her wealth of experience, it was no surprise when she emerged as victorious and won the title of Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024.
