South Africa: Members of the Winelands District Flying Squad and Paarl South African Police Service (SAPS) has apprehended an adult male aged 47, for the possession of abalone and reckless negligent driving in the early hours of Tuesday morning on April 30, 2024.
Reportedly, members tried to stop a BMW car, whose driver failed to stop and fled from the police. Following a high-speed chase ensued and the driver of the vehicle drove into a business premises of the Main Road, Paarl.
Considering the case, the suspect without any further delay was arrested with twenty-two bags containing 2300 units of abalone which were found inside the vehicle.
As per the sources, the arrested suspect is under the custody of the police guards and has been admitted to the hospital and will later appear in the court, once he gets discharged from the hospital.
Further in an unrelated matter, the members of the Harare Crime Prevention Unit brought the perpetrators of the law to book into action and saw the arrests of the two suspects.
Both the apprehended suspects were 27-year-old. The arrest took place after a call was received about the suspects that were robbing people.
Moreover, the members proceeded to Ncumo Street, Block-35, in Harare and spotted the suspected robbers. When the suspects saw the South African Police Service members approaching, both of them started running.
Both the suspects were then put behind the bars and recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition, a knife and cellular telephones that were found in their possession.
The arrested suspects are now facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of presumed stolen property were also recovered.
The suspects’ case has been put due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court as once they will be charged.
SAPS has been receiving the calls for the similar cases and is taking action to curb the problem.
