Zimbabwe: Philanthropist and businesswoman Divine Simbi Ndhlukula has inaugurated a computer lab at Makudo Business Centre in the region of rural Gutu on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
The lab is the first of its kind which is launched in the district and will serve the seven primary and secondary schools.
The award-winning businesswoman has announced about the launch of the lab on her official social media accounts, such as on Facebook and X (formerly known as twitter).
Reportedly, the launch or inauguration ceremony held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and has anticipated to be a momentous occasion and was attended by the local community members, educators, government officials and the representatives from various organizations.
The launch of the computer labs has highlighted the collaborative efforts of individuals and businesses who are dedicated to making a positive impact on education and uplifting communities.
The popular public figure, Simbi Ndhlukula is known for her dedication towards the community development and education. She is a prominent figure who in Zimbabwe and is known for her philanthropic efforts.
Businesswoman Divine is the founder of the renowned security company SECURICO, with which she has earned numerous accolades for her business acumen and commitment to various social causes.
Divine has refurbished her late parents’ old shop and turned it into a library and computer lab.
Introducing the computer lab has been a major step forward in providing modern educational resources to rural students.
It is difficult and crucial to have access to technology and digital learning tools in today’s interconnected world. So, initiatives like this help bridge the gap between urban and rural education facilities.
As per the sources, the computer lab is expected to enhance the IT skills (Information and technology skills) of the students and also aims to broaden the educational horizons by providing access to a wealth of information and educational resources that are available online.
The lab will serve as a hub for innovation and learning, empowering young minds to excel in the digital age.
Moreover, the lab will compliment the Mbuya Mary Simbi Library. The center serves schools in one of the most remote areas of Gutu. The places which are getting benefitted are Firomumwe, Zvinavashe, Chitsa, Mondo and Machingambi primary and secondary schools.
Through initiatives such as the computer lab at Makudo Business Centre, Divine Simbi Ndhlukula continues to demonstrate her unwavering commitment to empowering the youth and fostering a culture of learning and development in Zimbabwe’s rural areas.
