Botswana: The Serowe District Council honoured the frontline workers of the district on the occasion of International Firefighters Day. The event was hosted with the aim of highlighting and appreciating the firefighters for their dedication and hard work.

The event was hosted on Saturday under the theme of ‘Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute Towards National Building’. The firefighters play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the people of the community.

The aim of the fire department of the district is to ensure that all the members of the community can lead safe and productive lives. The firefighters in the community have been making stringent efforts to educate and inform them about the ways in which they can keep themselves and their familes secure.

The department has been working hard to host training exercises for the people of the community to remain safe. They want to become the leading provider of excellent fire services to the satisfaction of the Serowe District Community.

In line with this vision of the department, SDC Firefighters adopted a community outreach plan. In this programme, they are making an effort to impact knowledge and share skills on dealing with fire outbreaks. They are also working  on learning about some of the major fire prevention measures.

Serowe Bus Rank business community including, Taxi operators, Bus Drivers, Vendors and Fast Food providers attended the event. They were fortunate targets to receive first hand education as they experience fire dangers on a daily basis.

Acting Chief Fire Officer, Segopolo Sesa delivered the keynote address at the training exercise and celebration initiative. They emphasised that fire safety precautions are not only preventative measures but also the cornerstones of stable and sustainable growth.

The event proved to be a much needed exercise as the community at large paused to learn, listen and appreciate the efforts made by Serowe District Council Firefighters. The people of the district were also happy with the efforts of the organization.
