South Africa: South Africa is all set to welcome Caribbean players into the country for the ICC Under 19 tournament. The 15th edition of the tournament will be played in South Africa from January 19 to February 11.

Saint Lucia Under19 Captain Tarrique Edward left Saint Lucia yesterday (Tuesday) to join West Indies Under 19 squad members on their way to South Africa to participate in the ICC Under 19 tournament.

The team captain of Saint Lucia, Tarrique, wished his team the best of luck for the match with South Africa and said, “Continue to make us proud.”

Tarrique Edward left Saint Lucia on Tuesday morning, January 09, 2024, bound for Barbados, where he will join up with other members of the West Indies Under-19 cricket squad, where they will prepare ahead of departing to South Africa for the 2024 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cricket Championship.

The hard work of Edward, who is also Saint Lucia’s Under-19 captain, has been lauded by the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association as he seeks to establish himself on the international stage.

The National Cricket Association wished him luck for his match in which they stated, “We wish him the best on this journey and encourage him to keep flying our flag high,” stated SLNCA president Wayne Auguste. “We know that he will give a good account of himself in South Africa, and we wish him and the entire West Indies team the best of luck in South Africa.”

Auguste recognized that the young Windies “will be up against the best of the best of the competing countries, their best Under-19s, so he, Tarrique, and the other Windies Under-19s must perform against those guys and, establishing themselves as knowing what to do in certain on-field situations.”

Even the Grenadian and Windward Islands U19 Cricketer Divonie Joseph left Grenada on Monday to meet his other teammates on the Windward Islands U19 team and other U19 Cricketers in the West Indies to participate in the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
