St. Kitts and Nevis: The newly released passport by the federation has been recognized as the ‘Best New Passport 2025’ under the ‘Regional ID Document of the Year’ category at HSP Latin America conference, held in Brazil. The Ministry of National Security, Citizenship and Immigration made the announcement on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Reportedly the award was announced at the High Security Printing (HSP) Latin America conference, last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. HSP Latin America is an annual international conference that is organized to focus on emerging technologies related to government-issued currency, identification, and travel documents.
Considering this big achievement, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew shared a video and extended his greetings to the St. Kitts and Nevis federation for bringing such laurels. The short video sheds light on the advanced features which the newly enhanced high security ePassport holds.
The ePassport is designed with state-of-the-art anti–counterfeit technology and strengthens the protection of citizens’ identities and enhances the security of the borders of the nation. It is due to the cutting-edge upgradations that the St. Kitts and Nevis ePassport has won this prestigious title.
PM Drew expressed that he is truly pleased to share that the newly enhanced St. Kitts and Nevis ePassport has been named as Best New Passport (2025) in the Regional ID Document of the Year category the High Security Printing (HSP) Latin America conference.
He further described its features and benefits and stated that this is a proud moment for the Federation. The upgraded ePassport is equipped with cutting-edge anti-counterfeit technology. Drew highlighted that the new ePassport represents the continued commitment to protect the identity of the citizens and strengthen the security of the borders.
Dr. Drew said that as the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, he is happy to see that the efforts are being recognized at the international level.
St. Kitts and Nevis introduced its new ePassport last year, in November 2024. It has become the first OECS country to win the HSP award. The ePassport features a polycarbonate data page, which significantly enhances durability and security by making it resistant to tampering and wear.
In addition, the design of the ePassport intricately blends island-centric elements such as indigenous flora and geographic motifs with cutting-edge security features and ensure that it remains one of the most secure travel documents in the Caribbean.
Notably, the ePassport was developed and produced by the Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited (CBN) and is compliant with the global inter-operability standards set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Ottawa-based firm delivered an advanced passport issuance system, online web services for the public, a border management system, and self-clearance kiosks at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
The award came at a time when St. Kitts and Nevis is strengthening its border security architecture and compliance regime parallelly meeting the international standards and best practices.
