St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew and Foreign Affairs Minister Denzil Douglas addressed the nation and people of Constituency 6 – St Paul’s during the Pre Labour Day Meeting on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 8 pm. The meeting was a part of the Labour Weekend Celebrations 2023.
In the address, PM Drew emphasized the accomplishments of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party since 1952. He stated that the Labour Party told people the “Power of Vote”.
He also highlighted several other accomplishments; he said the Labour govt in St Kitts and Nevis built hospitals and clinics to ensure people can access healthcare. The party also gives people a chance to own land. Even in 1960, the SKNLP also gave children comprehensive secondary education. The political party also provide social security to people and workers.
According to the Prime Minister, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party provided the groundwork for the country’s current strength and reliability. Moreover, PM Drew also paid homage to all St Kitts leaders. PM Drew added that he is proud to be a part of these renowned and older political parties in the English-speaking Caribbean.
PM Drew also shared the value of labour day, which he said is an essential day for the country and belongs to a labour party. The party works on the principle of labour day, which is why we host Labour weekend celebrations.
The Pre Labour meetings also meant to be celebrated and are being held to realize the importance of Labour Day.
The Labour Party leader Minister Denzil Douglas was also with PM Drew and shared his thoughts towards Labour Day. He highlighted empowerment within the constituency and its people. He said, “Our goal is to achieve empowerment through land and housing in our community at number 6 and beyond throughout the land of Labor. Therefore, we are considering acquiring land to make this vision a reality.
He also shared St Kitts and Nevis’s recent projects on which govt is working, like: building a bridge between St Kitts and Nevis, building more houses, more employment opportunities, hotels and villas, and many more.
