St. Kitts and Nevis took a major step in achieving healthcare modernisation and signed a contract for the National Digital Health Information System (NDHIS). It was signed on Saturday, May 29, 2026 at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).
This is an agreement between the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) and the St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association that will support the design, development, testing and implementation of a digital system. It majorly aims at improving healthcare delivery across the Federation.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew himself observed the signing event and praised the initiative. He stated that it is a transformative investment in healthcare and local innovation. It highlights the rigorous process which is undertaken to ensure that the system meets international standards.
Founder of the St. Kitts National Robotics Association – Dr. Ricardo Neil noted that PAHO commended the locally developed system as being on par with international standards. While also applauding the work of the young innovators and CFBC students of the Federation. The NDHIS represents another important step towards a more modern, efficient and connected healthcare system for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Considering this, PM Drew shared glimpses from his visit and said that the day marked another significant milestone in the journey to modernise healthcare in St. Kitts and Nevis. He was pleased to witness the signing of the contract for the National Digital Health Information System (NDHIS). He said that it is a transformative initiative that will help in creating a more efficient, connected and patient-centred healthcare system across the Federation.
According to the Prime Minister, what makes this achievement even more special is that this solution is being developed by their own people. Through the talent, innovation and expertise of the St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association and is supported by the young minds at CFBC. They are demonstrating this as local innovation which is ready to deliver world-class solutions to national challenges.
Drew added that as they continue to build a Sustainable Island State, they are strongly committed to embrace innovation, empower the people and transform healthcare for upcoming generations.
Furthermore, the project is expected to begin the implementation soon with an initial instalment of EC$ 1,680,000.
Once implemented, the National Digital Health Information System will modernise and digitally connect the nation’s healthcare system, improving efficiency, accessibility and the overall delivery of healthcare services. Importantly, the system will also provide members of the general public with greater access to their personal health records, by creating a more connected and accessible technologically advanced healthcare experience for citizens and residents across the Federation.
