St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with the England’s football sensation and Chelsea mid-fielder Cole Palmer on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The player visited the island nation to explore the roots of his ancestors and learn about its culture.
Palmer visited St. Kitts and Nevis with his family members who belong to the federation as their paternal roots are linked to the twin island nation. Dr. Drew courteously welcomed the soccer player and his family. He expressed pride in Cole’s achievements on the international level.
PM Drew stated that the whole nation is proud to see a descendant of St. Kitts and Nevis representing their country with such owner at global football platform. He said the success of player is not only his personal triumph but also a testament to the legacy of Kittitian resilience, talent and influence at global stage.
Praising Cole Palmer, Drew shared glimpses and video related to his visit to St. Kitts and Nevis. Considering this, he said it was a tremendous honor to welcome English Premier League star Cole Palmer and his family to the nation.
Drew noted that Cole’s journey from Manchester to the global stage is an inspiring sports story as well as a powerful reflection of strength and potential that lies within the Kittian and Nevisian diaspora.
Prime Minister Drew marked that Palmer’s visit was deeply meaningful because of his remarkable rise in international football and his strong ancestral ties to St. Kitts. Cole’s grandfather was a proud Kittian. He was born and raised right in St. Kitts and Nevis before he migrated to England.
During the meeting, PM Drew presented Cole Palmer with the national team jersey and a special piece of indigenous Caribbean art, along with symbols of his ancestral heritage and the pride, acknowledging his achievements.
He praised Cole and told him that he is visiting his home and they are looking forward to deepening this bond and ensuring that his visit reflects what they already know in their hearts that ‘Cole Palmer is a son of the soil’.
Drew further added that he is delighted that Cole Palmer has returned to his roots. He said that to see his grandson now shine on the world, is a powerful reflection of the strength, spirit, and potential of the people, even after so many generations have passed.
As per Drew, Cole might be making headlines across the globe but in St. Kitts, they see him as one of their own and a son who is attached to the soil.
