St Kitts: Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was delighted to announce that the federation is hosting 13th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management. The members of the Caribbean Community travelled to the island nation for the event.
He highlighted that this is the first time that the conference is being hosted in a OECS nation. The event, which is being hosted from December 2 to December 6, will be discussing climate action, disaster preparedness and more.
The coneference of the Caribbean Leaders was hosted right after the 2024 Trans Atlantic Hurricane Season came to a close. The hurricane season, which runs for six months, is marked with climatic, tropical disturbances.
The 2024 season was one of the most active hurricane season in the recent years. The officials have shared that the conference was organized by CDEMA – Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency,
The event and the federation welcomed more than 400 delegates, which is a high number considering the size of the island. The Prime Minister said that he is proud of the fact that the federation is capable of hosting these large scale events.
PM Drew also added that 13th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management was hosted right after the conclusion of another similar event, the Business and Professional Women (BPW) Congress.
The leaders have shared that the members of the community have been working hard to make the federation ready for the event. Dr Terrance Drew said that the Business and Professional Women (BPW) Congress also welcomed more than 300 guests.
The Business and Professional Women (BPW) Congress had also chosen St kitts and Neevis to be the first nation to host their conference in. The Prime Minister said that these events are very important for driving growth in the economy.
The delegates welcomed during these events not only have the opportunity to experience the island at its best, they can also see the island’s hospitality.
