St Kitts: Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis attended the launch event for the Elevate Programme. The launch event was hosted on Thursday afternoon. Many members of the Ministry of Social Security were present at the event.
The Elevate programme is aimed towards the upliftment of the people of the country. Prime Minister and his team have been working on this project for several months. Dr. Drew shared the update about the launch event on his social media.
The Prime Minister shared that he was honoured to be a part of the launch event. Permanent Secretary, Naeemah Hazelle of the Ministry of Social Security was heading the project.
According to Dr. Terrance Drew, the project aims to focus on training the individuals who are part of the project. The authorities will train the youngsters and adults in a significant step towards providing an alternative path.
The Elevate initiative is aimed at protecting youngsters and adults who are on the wrong side of the law. The programme also supports people who are at risk of being in conflict with law enforcement.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew revealed that the Elevate programme is being carried out from a new office in Bay Road, Basseterre.
Dr. Drew was present at the event in the capacity of the Minister of Social Security and Minister of National Security. The prime Minister believes that crime can be seen as a public health emergency.
This is why, the government led by Dr. Drew is taking rehabilitation of the project extremely seriously. Through the programme, the government wants to talk to the vulnerable groups of St Kitts and Nevis.
The aim of this initiative is to provide these vulnerable groups with structured and legitimate opportunities to transform their lives and contribute positively to society.
ELEVATE provides many options for programmes. These include life skills empowerment workshops, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and opportunities in agriculture.
