Suspected drug dealer is on the run after allegedly assaulting the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mnangagwa

Zimbabwe: Suspected drug dealer is on the run after allegedly assaulting the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry – Tongai Mnangagwa, which was followed by a misunderstanding over a parking space at night on Tuesday, 30 Jan 2024.

As per the police reports, Deputy Minister Mnangagwa, his associates and other aides parked their convoy outside an apartment block known as Trude Mansions at the corner of Sixth Street and Fife Avenue in Harare’s Avenues area.

Reportedly, the Deputy Minister and his associates were there to attend a party at the apartment block. Afterwards, when he went to his car, the suspect, who is identified as Antony Mwedziwendira, confronted the minister by complaining about his vehicles and having been blocked in the parking lot during the party.

As per the recent information coming from the sources, the accused person charged the Deputy Minister for assaulting him with open hands, prompting the former’s aides to intervene.

Indeed, the suspected Antony Mwedziwendira allegedly went on to assault one of his aides once with open hands on his face, after which the incident raged and caused chaos.

Later on, realising that he was dealing with a Deputy Minister, the accused person fled and ran away from the incident spot after causing the major scene.

Notably, he left behind four vehicles: a BMW, a Volkswagen, and two Mercedes-Benz sedans. The incident was reported at the Zimbabwe Republic Police-ZRP Milton Park.

In search of evidence, the vehicles were investigated and an assortment of illicit drugs and foul substances was found in some of them. Other than this, two passports were also found, one of which was in the name of suspected drug dealer Antony Mwedziwendira.

The investigation is still in progress. The cops are leaving no stone unturned to catch the suspected man; he can also give relatable information about other drug rackets or such illegal works going on in Zimbabwe.
