Zambia: The police force of Luapula Province has arrested a 34-year old Teacher for defiling a student. The teacher, identified as Sinyangwe is a resident of the Samfya District of the Luapula Province.
Meanwhile, he has been arrested for forcefully raping a 15-year-old student of Grade 11 in the house of the school headteacher. The incident happened on April 18, 2024.
On the day of the incident, the suspect was filling in for the school head teacher who had been out of town. The house of the school headteacher, which was the location of the defiling incident had been empty in the owner’s absence.
The suspect forced himself upon the fifteen year old in the living room area of the house. After the assault, the teacher also warned her not to tell anyone about the incident or she could face expulsion.
However, the victim informed her aunty about the incident the following day, who immediately took the matter to the police. The Police officers arrested the suspect on the same day and he is currently awaiting his trial.
The investigating officers also established the happenings of the day leading up to the assault. Earlier in the day, The suspect called the victim to the office of the head teacher, which he was occupying.
He instructed the victim to go and clean the house of the head teacher which was empty in the absence of the educator
The suspect stayed at the office while the victim left to complete the work that she had been given. However, he followed her to the head teacher’s house shortly afterwards and found the victim sweeping the living room.
According to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale shared the details of the incident with the media. The people have shared their disappointment over the incident. They have expressed their anger towards the actions of the suspect.
The people hope that the suspect would be dealt the punishment that he deserves for his criminal offense.
