The renowned global magazine ‘Time Out’ mentions the legislative capital of South Africa among the World’s Best Cities 2024. The magazine placed Cape Town second and was recognized as the best destination place for travellers in the latest edition of January 23, 2024.
Reportedly, Time Out has just released the latest report on the World’s 50 Best Cities that is based on the Time Out Index. The prestige publication conducted an extensive survey of over 20,000 city dwellers around the world.
Notably, the Time Out Index criteria primarily included culture, food (based on quality and affordability), nightlife, and how comfortable the city makes people feel.
Time Out conducted the survey with its network of editors. The list reflects the cities that are considered great places to visit and live.
Talking about the World’s Best Cities, the Time Out Magazine wrote, “What makes a city great? Some would say it’s all about buzzing neighbourhoods, affordable food and drink and a mighty selection of things to do from art galleries and museums to live music and theatre.”

The global magazine added, “Others might highlight things like the happiness of its locals, access to green space and strong community vibes.”
Editor Grace Beard writes, “We factor in all that and more in our annual survey, which asks city-dwellers around the world to tell us what it’s like to live, work and play in their hometowns right now.”
The editor added, “Thanks to the opinions and insights of locals on the ground and our global network of city experts, we’re able to create a global ranking of the World’s Best Cities and the 2024 results are in.”
Editor Beard mentioned that in previous years, the ranking remained based on the global survey of the people who knew their city best, i.e., ‘the locals’.
“Working with the research company Potentia Insight, we surveyed thousands of city-dwellers about the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in their city,” writes editor Grace Beard.

While conducting the survey doubts such as; How the city makes people feel: are happy there? Is it a Beautiful Place? Is it easy to make social connections there? were all cleared by asking the locals, residents and the tourists.
The numerous responses were the reason that gave the analysers a unique insight and reality of living in the world’s greatest cities.
