Lagos in Nigeria and Accra from Ghana has been ranked among the World’s Top-13 Nightlife Destinations by the renowned magazine ‘Time Out’. Lagos ranked the 6th ahead of Manchester, UK and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, while Accra was ranked 10th on the list.
Lagos is Nigeria’s bustling commercial hub has been ranked on number 6th. The place has surpassed the well-known cities such as Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Manchester of the United Kingdom, while Accra – the coastal capital of Ghana, secured the 10th spot on the list.
Reportedly, the ranking was released by the Time Out – a global magazine operating in 333 cities across 59 countries.
Another city that has been accredited is Nigeria. The place is the origin of Afrobeats – the sound that has ignited the dancefloors across the globe and has its origins in Nigeria, so it is no surprise tat the country’s biggest city ‘Lagos’ is ranked so high for its nightlife.
Lagos has earned an impressive 80% quality score for its vibrant nightlife scene, and it’s not too hard on the wallet for locals either to score 48% for affordability.
As per the sources, the magazine also noted that the nightlife venues at Lagos, such as the Freedom Park and The House on Victoria Island have become synonymous with the exciting events that cater to a wide array of tastes, from Sunday Salsa Nights and Networking Events to Afro House Club Nights – Odyssey House.
Nightlife scenes of Accra has scored pretty well and earned 66% for its quality and 36% for affordability. The locals rave about the vibe, calling it ‘Beautiful’, ‘Peaceful’ and ‘Safe’. The popular hangouts include the lively bars in Osu, also considering the all-night beach parties at Labadi Beach, where people know how to have a good time.
Notably, Accra’s Nightlife has bounced back strong since the pandemic and now it’s all about outdoor vibes, said Kofi Dotse, the Accra expert. He added, “Picture rooftop bars, open-air concerts, live DJ sets and art festivals, it is a whole new level of fun.”
