South Africa: A white Hino tip truck overturned multiple times after it collided into two vehicles on the R102. The incident happened while the vehicle was travelling along the road in Verulam – KZN.

The R102 has been witnessing a spike in the number of road accidents happening on the road. The rpoad has also become increasingly prone to vehicle hijackings. The reaction unit officers were informed about the accident by the road users.

The reaction unit dispatched a team of officers to the scene of the accident. On arrival at the spot of the accident, the reaction officers discovered an extensively damaged white Toyota Etios and a white Hyundai i20.

Both the vehicles were found at the Jabu Ngcobo Road & R102 intersection. Further, the reaction officers also saw a tip tip truck that was located several meters below an embankment at a little distance from the other vehicles.

Reaction Officers approached the truck and helped the driver and his assistant out of the wreckage. It was established that the truck was travelling on the north bound when its brakes failed. The driver collided into two (2) vehicles before it overturned multiple times and came to a stop at the base of an embankment.

The occupants of the truck sustained injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.

The situation of the occupants of the other cars has not been made clear by the members of the Reaction Unit. The people of the country have come forward to express their concern on the increasing number of accidents in the region.

The people have shared that they believe the truck drivers have become a cause of concern for the people of the province. Some of the times, the truck drivers drive recklessly and endanger the people using the roads.
