War fighting sports lay claims that they are the country’s most popular sports discipline, and their fame is attributed to the emergence of ‘Edward Golola’ with kickboxing over a decade ago.

With the convincing of kick boxing suffering greatly recently, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has touched down on Ugandan soil and been attributed to the next spectator puller.

MMA was previously considered a niche sport in Uganda, but the emergence of Ugandan fighter David Onama in the popular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has opened Ugandan doors to the rest of the world.

Till now, 17 fighters got the chance to take over the world by combining 1 Zone MMA promotions company- this is the first MMA promotion company to be included in East Africa.

As per the president, ‘Weverson Gomes‘ 1 zone of war will bring a whole new experience of the war fighting for both the fans and the fighters.

Uganda is a good place, and Ugandans people love sports and entertainment, and now we want to obtain world-class sport and entertainment for the people of this country,” said Weverson.

Furthermore, Weverson stated that we witnessed the potential of the Ugandan fighters, even they have a background that is linked to kickboxing, and that background helps them, but as 1 zone, we have worked with them to improve specific aspects.

To help the fighters adjust to the MMA format, 1 Zone has ensured that they receive specialised training in the various techniques, and the soldiers are confident in their ability to knock out opponents.

“We have introduced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is more about the ground game and is crucial to an MMA, and Ugandan fighters will be able to perform at an incredible level and take over the world with both skill.”

He stated that we are pledged to continue our work with them and improve the various aspects of the games and individuals. We also want to ensure that we launch the aspects more professionally.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting strategies and talents from a mixture of other combat sports like kick boxing, taekwondo, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing to be used in competitions.

The rules allow the usage of both unique and grappling techniques while standing and on the ground.
