The Acting Managing Director of Water for Water, Tumba Mupango announced that her organisation will support the Zambia government in WASH Activities. She highlighted that they want to support the nation’s government in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene aspects.
These will help in supporting the health and lifestyle goals of the people of the nation. The leaders of the nation have shared that they are most grateful for the support of the organization in WASH and climate change initiatives of the nation.
Mupango claimed that the organisation will continue to use a shared responsibility approach. She announced that they also want to collaborate with government line ministries in combating effects of climate change.
She stated that WfW has been working with government departments as well as schools to improve the water sector through various initiatives, in Southern, Northwestern, Luapula and Lusaka Provinces.
She made these remarks during the company’s launch of the green hospitality service. She also shared details regarding the service calling it vital in ensuring eco-friendly practices with various stakeholders.
The green hospitality service is a campaign designed to encourage hospitality businesses to use eco-friendly usage of glass instead of plastic water bottles that are not safe for the environment. Manager for Sustainability Services and Innovation Communications, Sekayi Fundafunda stressed the significance of a shared responsibility to protect the environment.
She disclosed that the organization has so far spent US$60, 000.00 on the green hospitality service. The organization’s, Green hospitality service is a service that encourages consumption of filtered water and making the switch to use glass bottles with the aim of reducing reliance on plastic bottles.
“The green hospitality service has so far launched with seven partners such as Chaminuka Luxury Lodge, Nkosi Livingstone Lodge and Spa, Nomads Court Lodge, Crest Lodge and many more,”she announced.
One of the principal green hospitality service partners, Chaminuka Director, Stelios Sardinis said he was concerned about the effects of the continued use of plastic bottles on the ecosystem. He said as part of the solution, Chaminuka Luxury Lodge will serve water from certified points that tap into subterranean springs.
