South Africa: Wesgro was honoured to be a part of the launch of the Western Cape Investment Summit (WCIS) at a Business Breakfast. It was held at the JSE last week that brought together the Western Cape Government, National Partners (DTIC and BrandSA), the NBI, the diplomatic corps, and private sector companies.
Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism – Dr. Ivan Meyer openly addressed the gathering. He emphasised mainly the commitment of the province to drive investment, be responsive to business needs and support job creation through these efforts.
Chief Foreign Direct Investment Officer of Wesgro – JP Van der Merwe highlighted the scale of the African growth story, with the population of the continent set to reach 2.5 billion by 2050.

Reportedly, one quarter of the world’s total and Sub-Saharan Africa’s economy is projected to more than double to US $4.5 trillion by 2040. Global businesses have a significant opportunity to expand through the Western Cape.
The summit will connect investors with project owners to unlock the opportunities, while uniting government, business associations and the diplomatic corps behind the provincial Growth for Jobs (G4J) strategy.
Notably, the Western Cape Investment Summit will take place from November 05 to 07, 2025 at the CTICC. It will further present a unique opportunity for investors to connect with the immense potential on offer in the region.

Following the theme, “Catalyzing Growth, Connecting Opportunities”, the Western Cape Investment Summit 2025 (also known as WCIS 2025) marks a defining moment in the Western Cape’s journey towards economic excellence.
The event will be hosted by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism of the Western Cape Government from November 05 to 07, 2025 at the prestigious Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC 2).
This investment summit is a meticulously crafted platform to unite local, national, and global capital with transformative opportunities.

Anchored in the province’s Growth for Jobs (G4J) strategy, WCIS 2025 accelerates the ambition to build an R1 trillion inclusive economy growing at 5% annually.
This summit positions the Western Cape as Africa’s gateway to investment by fostering strategic partnerships and driving investment into high-impact sectors.
As part of the R200 billion investment PFA target, the investment summit will be a mechanism to attract new FDI and DDI into the Province and increase the position as a leading investment destination on the African continent.
