The Zambia Police Service has denied the claims of two people being Killed by police in Dengwe area. The Police officers have shared that these baseless claims are currently circulating on social media.
The police station that is being mentioned in the story is a station in Dengwe area of Kasempa District in North Western Province. The officials have explained that the no such incident has happened and cautioned the people to desist from spreading baseless rumours.
The officials made the clarification during an operation of removing illegal gold miners that have raided the area. The officials have shared that the members of the country should trust the administration.
Police Public Relations Officer Rea Hamoonga said in a statement clarifying that the members of the community are spreading baseless rumours.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to address and refute recent claims circulating on social media that two individuals were killed in the Dengwe area of Kasempa, North-Western Province by police during an operation conducted by our officers. We categorically state that no such incident occurred ,” he said.
The Police Public Hamoonga noted that the operation in question was aimed at removing illegal miners from the area and was carried out successfully and that at no point did the officers discharge live ammunition at individuals present at the scene.
He said all illegal miners were successfully removed from the site, and the operation proceeded as planned without any incidents of violence or serious injury.
The Police Public Relations Officer Hamoonga said the allegations of individuals being killed are entirely false and misleading. The official has said that it is important to note that the Zambia Policee Service is still workin
He stated that the Zambia Police Service remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
Mr Hamoonga has since urged the public and the media to verify information with official sources before disseminating it to avoid causing unnecessary panic and confusion.
