Zambia: The Police Force of Zambia has expressed concern on the increasing numbers of junkies in the various communities. The youngsters, who engage in unlawful practices cause significant unrest and fear among the community members.
The officials have shared that in line with this, the community have to support the police officers. The officials have shared that the issue is growing at a seriously concerning rate. The leadership of the country have shared that the police has taken some steps to address the situation.
Zambia Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga has also spoken to the media regarding the issue in the communities. He revealed that that the police officers have increased patrols in affected areas and communities.
He has claimed that the patrols will be continued for the foreseeable future for the people of the country. He has shared that they will continue to work for this mandate. The official however shared that the members of the community will have to work with the leadership of the country.
He has shared that many officers report feelings of unrest among community members, when they interact with the officers during patrols. The official stated that because this is a major societal issue, the support of the people is extremely important.
Collectively, the society has to encourage the youngsters of the nation to engage in more productive activities. The community is responsible for giving the youngsters a worthy upbringing. The officials have shared that parents and their treatment of the world will play a crucial role in how the youngsters perceive it.
The police have made arrests and the courts have imposed fines to dissuade the acts of violence and lawlessness. However, the the problem continues to torment the community, which highlights the need for more efforts and change in approach.
The law enforcement agencies have to look into the root cause of these activities and work towards addressing them. The officials have shared that they will be providing rehabilitation opportunities to make sure the problem is tackled decisively.
He added that they are working with local authorities and providing rehabilitation alongside other support services. These initiatives will help in addressing the issues of junkies around the country.
