Zambia: The Public Service Commission has embarked on the validation of the 3,000 candidates who have been selected to fill various vacancies under the Ministry of Health in various provinces.
Acting Public Service Commission Chairperson Choolwe Beyani stated that the commission has decided to conduct the validation process in provinces to speed up the recruitment process of health workers.
“This process was supposed to be done in Lusaka, but we are doing it in the province to speed up the recruitment process of the 3,000 health workers,” he said.
Dr Beyani said only ensuring that there is no duplication of the employed candidates will be done at the Public Service Commission headquarters once the validation process is completed in provinces.
He was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Acting Southern Province Permanent Secretary Yalanta Malunga with his team in Choma before meeting the provincial selection committee.
Dr. Beyani said the commission will ensure that the locals are prioritized during the validation process.
“It is my hope that the locals and persons living with disabilities have been given an opportunity to be employed. We will ensure that local candidates are prioritized during validation,” he said.
Dr Beyani added that it is hoped that the committee selects candidates on merit and in accordance with guidelines so that the number of candidates being disqualified for various reasons is minimal or zero.
Acting Southern Province Permanent Secretary Yolanta Malunga says the provincial selection committee has successfully completed the validation of the selected candidates at district and provincial levels.
Malunga stated that the selection committee selected 313 candidates for the 313 vacant positions allocated to the province.
She said the selection committee followed all the guidelines during the selection process and is confident that all the selected candidates in the province are qualified for the positions they were selected to occupy.
