Zambia: The Zambia Under-20 Men’s National Team this evening (Tuesday) takes to the field at the iconic Alexandria Stadium in a Group C AFCON tussle against Benin that kicks off at 19:00 hours CAT (Zambian Time).

Coach Chisi Mbewe will be looking to transform the works of over a month into a winning formula when his charges walk on the Alexandria turf that is six years shy of hitting 100. Skipper Dominic Kanda will be looking to inspire the Cosafa champions on the pitch as they seek to make an opening statement at the tournament.

In goal, it will be a contest among Jeban Tembo, Levison Banda and Eric Makungu, while at the back, the likes of Happy Nsiku, Gift Mphande and Onesimus Chipango will be up for the central partnership selection.

Others in line for completion of the rear set are the marauding Lombe Mutale and Nkana’s Amon Chulu. Mbewe could also look to pick from Mathews Banda and Lackosn Tembo.

Kanda, who is the conductor in Mbewe’s orchestra, may be joined by the nimble footed Charles Mumba, Spain based Peter Chikola, with Ian Sindaye, Julius Kumwenda and Lasmond Phiri in contention for starting paces.

Upfront Derrick Bulaya and Kingstone Mutandwa have both put strong cases to lead the attack, while creative play may come from Songa Chipyoka, Emmanuel Mukosha and Rickson Ng’ambi.

However, Benin will have no pushover, having incorporated two foreign based players in their set up, who are Egypt based Francisco Dokou and Malick Tongui from Ivory Coast. Others to look out for are Rodolfo Aloko and Olatoundji Tesslimi.

Kickoff is at 19:00 (CAT), with the game lives on SuperSport. In the other Group C match, Tunisia will face Gambia.

Many Botswanians also expressed their support and happiness and took to the comment section to share their support and happiness with the team.
