The Zambia Tennis Association (ZTA) recently organized the Girls Under 10 to Under 14 Women’s Day Tennis Championships. The aim of the sports tournament was to highlight the talent of the young women of Zambia.

The tennis championship was hosted at the Nkana Tennis Club in Kitwe. The participants of the tennis championship came from various parts of the country, including the capital city of the country Lusaka, Ndola, and the host city of Kitwe.
Several tennis clubs sent their best talents to compete in the tournament and bring them glory. The tennis matches were played in three different categories, that is, Girls Under 14, Girls Under 12 and Girls Under 10.
The Tennis Association has shared the results for the competition and shared the names of the winners and runners-up in each age category:
Girls Under 14
Winner: Mukangwa Siame (Nkana Tennis Club)
Runner-up: Janet Mwape (Nkana Tennis Club)
Girls Under 12
Winner: Yula Ulendo (JUSTTENNIS)
Runner-up: Shaney Mateta (JUSTTENNIS)
Girls Under 10
Winner: Shaney Mateta (JUSTTENNIS)
Runner-up: Grace Chileya (Ndola Tennis Club)
The organizers considered the initiative a tremendous success. The participants of the event was also given gifts. The Chairperson of the Gender Equity Sports Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia, Susanna Dakik facilitated the gifts.
The gifts commemorated International Women’s Day and supported the young athletes. The Zambia Tennis Association officials believe that the youngsters’ performance was most impressive.
Further, the tournament proved that the future of women’s tennis in Zambia is very bright. The country’s people also congratulated the winners for their remarkable performance and spirit of sports.
