Vice President Jessica Alupo’ has praised the efforts of President Museveni for the overall peace and security he showed in the country; she said it has helped in overall development, growth and social-economic transformation throughout Uganda.
The provision of peace, she said, is a deliberate effort of the NRM government.

She stated that because of his commitment to Uganda’s development, President Museveni as a person and the NRM government, in general, have gained and maintained support across the country, particularly as a result of the President’s nationwide programmes, from which women and girls have benefited enormously.
During her remarks, Alupo highlighted the importance of girls’ education and said that education is a powerful tool that society can use anytime to liberate itself at all levels.
She encouraged all the girls to keep taking stock of the achievements and work together with the communities in order to strengthen and benefit from Government programs like Universal Primary Education, Universal Secondary Education and tertiary education.
Then, she encouraged leaders to continue working towards empowering women and girl children while helping them to explore their full potential.
“This is the right partnership between communities and the Government”, she said, adding that there are specific packages for women through different economic empowerment programs.
The Vice President thanked women for taking advantage of those programs and encouraged them to support the Parish Development Model, a crucial flagship program which she said is going to cause a paradigm shift of our country into middle-income status, especially since all enabling laws, policies, guidelines and regulations to implement it are in place.
Alupo urged the leaders to share the necessary information so that citizens could sufficiently acclimatize themselves with the program.
While responding to the earlier remarks made by leaders on social services delivery, Vice President stated that the government had made it a policy that gave access to health services. It is a must, noting it is compulsory to have three health centres in every sub country, every country a health centre 4, at least one hospital in every district, and a referral hospital in every region.
In addition, she said the government would continue with rural electrification so that all schools and health facilities are connected to the national grid.
She also requested women in terms of responsibility in order to continue to mentor girls, stating that President Museveni had already made strategic placements, like ambassadors, ministers, commissioners, and said she too was a product of affirmative action, meaning that the policy and strategic intervention by the President has already produced results at all levels.
Alupo insisted all the women of Uganda continue making decisions that take care of the concerns of women and be an inspiration to the children, especially to girl children as good role models.
Alupo also thanked the MPs from Ankole for working together and for giving an example to strengthen the unity, adding that today whole Uganda is united because of the four principles of NRM; nationalism, pan Africanism, socio-economic transformation and democracy.
She also insisted leaders join her in a campaign which is launched by the First Lady Janet Museveni’ to fight against heresy, early unplanned pregnancies, early marriages, child labour, child sacrifice, child trafficking and domestic violence because they distort the education cycle and healthy development of the girl child.
