South Africa: Barberton Mines has left a lasting legacy for Madiba as they, in partnership with the Department of Education, celebrated the 2022 Mandela Day by donating the newly built Kaapvellei Primary School in Sheba Siding at Umjindi this morning.
Four hundred thirty-two learners from Sheba mine and Sheba Siding are beneficiaries of this benevolence which has significantly improved their learning and teaching environment.
The official handover event was graced by MEC Bonakele Majuba, Mr Martin Pieters, ESGC Manager Barberton Mines, Head: of Education, Mrs Lucy Moyane, as well as Prince TS Dlamini of LoMshiyo Traditional House.
The 20 million New School was constructed by Barberton Mines and consists of 08 Classrooms, Ablution Facilities, Clearview Fencing, Administration Block, School and Science Laboratories, Dining and Nutrition Centre, Grade R Block with 2 Classrooms and Ablution facility.
The school is being constructed in three phases.
In his Keynote Address, MEC Majuba expressed his gratitude to Barberton Mines:
“We are motivated by the fact that this is not your first act of goodwill to our communities. We were there with you in spirit as you upgraded Ngwane Primary School in Spearville, Barberton. We truly appreciate all the great efforts and acts of philanthropy you have done for the school and education in general,” he said.
