Roseau, Dominica: At a press conference on Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit revealed the prices of petroleum products have been reduced in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The new pricing of petroleum products has already been applied in Dominica on January 16, 2023. The revised costs of the petroleum products has been enlisted as follows:
- The price of Gasoline will decrease by one dollar and seven cents, bringing it down to $14.87 per gallon.

- The cost of Kerosene will decrease to $13.84 per gallon, a decrease of $1.20.
- The price of ultra-low Sulphur diesel has decreased to $16.32 per gallon, a decrease of $1.65 per gallon.
Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerrit stated, “There is an impressive downfall in petrol prices, and the prices of LPG also have also relatively dropped between 20 and 65 per cent for the 20 pounds andn the hundred pounds cylinders respectively.”
Furthermore, PM Skerrit added that Dominica suffered a lot last month (December) when people of Dominica faced a shortage of petroleum products with a rush to the pumps, attributing it to the c-swell, which prevented the docking of PDV Carib, the vessel carrying a large order of petroleum products. This delay in the vessel’s arrival disrupted the supply schedule.
He also discussed their agreement with Venezuela’s government President in which their strategy was for Energy Security in the region, and in this agreement, they took the deliberate decision in which they will only import from Venezuela Diesel and liquefied petroleum gas, aka LPG and leave the import of Gasoline exclusively to the other existing private entities.”
The Skerrit-led government also decided to provide Gasoline directly to fishermen, keeping in mind , how much the fisher communities have suffered. They travel to Castle Bruce and Castle Bruce to Marigot in order to get Gasoline and transport petroleum products.
Prime Minister Skerrit further talked about the supply of Gasoline in hospitals and to police because the police needs access to this fire as they cannot respond to an emergency situation with a denial , following no access to gas. Hence, it was an important issue to look at.
