Botswana: Botswana Government organised Multiple District 412 Liberty Intelligence, Our National Safety (LIONS) Club, which held its Annual Convention in Francistown over the weekend.
The Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Slumber Tsogwane, appreciated the district for hosting their meeting in Francistown.
Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said the convention, which was attended by members from Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, was a continuation and expansion of the tourism industry, which HATAB’s Annual Conference was discussing in Maun.
Vice President Tsogwane highlighted that even the convention theme, “Service from the heart in the City of all things Precious”, spoke to the will the club has to contribute towards making the second city a tourism destination.
The International Director, Dr Ahmed Salim Mostafa, submitted that the district had completed more than 960 (Nine hundred and sixty) projects. He said these are the reported projects only and was positive that some projects were undertaken but not registered across the district. Dr Mostafa challenged members to have completed at least 1000 (Thousand) projects by the end of the year and reach 1250 (One thousand two hundred and fifty) members.
The International Director said the convention was meant to renew friendships, share ideas and bring innovative, unique service to the community. The Region Chair, Ms Sylvia Muzila, lamented that, indeed, gatherings like this add value to the tourism industry of the city. She urged the youth to join the LIONS club so that they continue the legacy.
