Zambia: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has this year in a sudden turn of events dismissed 114 civil servants because of their absenteeism promoted close to 8,000 and re-united over 1,000 couples. This step by the CSC has reshaped the workforce Dynamics.
Addressing the media at the end-of-year press briefing yesterday, CSC acting chairperson Choolwe Beyani said most workers have been dismissed due to absenteeism.
This dismissal from the CSC has raised severe concern about the working conditions of the CSC and has left an indelible mark on the year’s narrative.
The CSC initiative is to reunite over 1,000 couples it is not only a step forward for humanity but also encourages the citizens to be more vigilant and be aware of the stable person life being awarded in CSC which fosters a productive and content workforce.
“Absenteeism stands out as the most committed offense by dismissed officers,” he said. “The commission is aware that this is just a fraction compared to the offenses committed within the service.
“This should also serve as a caution to supervisors in various Government departments not to be complacent when handling disciplinary cases as this would be at the expense of service delivery.” Said chairperson Choolwe
Dr Beyani said the commission would also undertake staff spot-checks in various Government departments to ensure that the officers are present in their respective duty stations during working hours.
This year has brought one of the most important transformational changes in the institution of the Civil Service Commission as CSC took a very bold step towards the abstention of the civil servant to maintain stability and discipline In the institution and embrace the internalization and this would bring a positive change not just in the CSC but also be reflecting in the society as a whole in zambia.
