Zambia, Chipata: The City Fathers are on top of things to ensure that lives are protected from Cholera. The Local Authority has lined up a number of activities for Cholera prevention, control and mitigation in the City.
Chipata City Mayor George Mwanza this afternoon led a Team of Chipata City Council Management, Ministry of Health officials, Red Cross and the Community Leadership to a donation of assorted food items at the Cholera Centre.
Chipata Mayor Mwanza expressed happiness that no death has been recorded in the City and that all the Cholera patients who were admitted at the Centre have been discharged.
He has since applauded the health team at the Centre for their commitment and hard work.
The Chipata City Mayor further added that Chipata City Council will continue to support the Health Team in the City, hence the donation of assorted food items to Cholera patients as they are in need of nutritious foods.
He said his Team at the Council will carry on with prevention, control and mitigation measures and ensure that Cholera messages are disseminated across the City.
He has since called on the Community Leadership to get involved.
Meanwhile, acting Chipata District Health Director Dr. Jairos Mulambya revealed that 11 cases have been received, and only 5 cases were confirmed.
Dr. Mulambya said his Team at the Cholera Centre is working round the clock to treat the confirmed cases and disclosed that the last patient was discharged yesterday.
The Cholera Centre Doctor in charge, Dr Zulu, appreciated the gesture from His Worship, the Mayor, and the entire Chipata City Council Management; Dr Zulu said the donation of assorted food items would go a long way.
Residents appreciate the Mayor for his good deeds and what he is doing for the Chipata Council in order to prevent residents from Cholera.
