Zimbabwe: The Afro-musician Takura announced his retirement from music. He confirmed that he is quitting music through the videos he has uploaded on his Instagram handle and said “he is finally quitting music.”
Takura uploaded three videos and said, “I know a lot of people think of looking for attention or whatever. It’s not that you know.”
The hip-hop star has announced this for the second time and confessed the reason that it is because his mental health is affected.
Takura announced this on social media on Thursday, Feb 15, 2024. In those three videos, Takura said, “This is by far the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life but I have finally decided to hang the boots, I am tired.”
He expressed that he knows people will think he is looking for attention but it’s not that.
Popularly, Takura is known as Mr Okay Okay and added that he is working on his last project but he is not sure whether he will be able to complete it.
Takura mentioned dropping the deluxe as his last project, “I wanted to drop the deluxe and that was going to be my last project but I have been struggling to even make a song.”
The sensational Shona Prince added, “The last thing I wanna talk about is check on your friends’ mental health, that is something real but seems like, if you are a man how can you feel all those things, going on until it is too late, so check on your loved ones.”
Zimbabwean rapper Takura earlier announced his retirement from his music career last year in October 2023.
Instead of a farewell to his music career, it was more like an announcement that serves as a clear call to the importance of mental health. He urged his followers to check on their loved ones.
It was a simple but powerful plea that highlights the necessity of support and understanding in the face of mental health struggles.
He also said that the message comes from the experience of the highs and lows he has faced during his musical success and the personal battles that carry a profound weight.
Takuma added that these highs and lows challenged the stigma that surrounded mental health, especially within industries known especially for their relentless pressures and expectations.
