Kenya: The President of Kenya, President William Ruto attended the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Talenta sports City. The president commissioned the construction of the 60,000 capacity customized football design at the Jamhuri grounds.
The project is considered most important for the development of the Kenyan economy’s sports sector. The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports has been working hard to project Kenya as a major sporting nation in Africa.
During the commissioning of the construction project, President Ruto claimed that his Government was investing in sports and talent development. The aim of the investments is to make sure that the youth of the country can benefit from the project for the benefit of Kenya’s youth.
The President added that the 60,000-seat professional football stadium will be a modern infrastructural masterpiece. The sporting infrastructure will have access to state-of-the-art equipment. Further, the construction of the stadium will complete by 2025.
Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Ababu Namwamba was excited to be a part of the historic commissioning ceremony. He talked about the design of the stadium, claiming that it oozes a distinct Kenyan flavour.

“This is going to be a customized football design, tailored for soccer, rugby and elite concerts. It is a compact edifice curated to accentuate electric passionate atmosphere that will always hand the Kenyan team that crucial 12th man advantage for every home game and is in sync with the green agenda,” marveled CS Ababu.
“We have paid close attention to renewable energy and made a deliberate effort to fuse this development with botanical gardens and green spaces stadia. It ticks all FIFA and CAF requirements and is a tech savvy facility designed for top level live TV broadcast, VAR goal line technology, comparable to the best in the world,” he observed.
Kenya has been chosen as one of the countries to host the upcoming international football event, AFCON27. The stadium’s construction is also important from the point of view of the upcoming international event.
CS Ababu added that his Ministry had envisioned AFCON 27 and beyond in designing the stadium. He shared that the ministry of youth affairs, sports and creative economy believes that the stadium has the potential to become a key economic hub.
At the commissioning ceremony, the Cabinet Secretary assured the public that Kenya would be ready to be a proud cohost of AFCON 27.
