Zimbabwe: An adult man from Chiweshe was shot with a gun. The man was hit in the hip after the gun was loaded and left in the backseat discharged accidentally.
The deceased man was identified as David Chidege. He was offered a lift by Simbarashe Silas Kapawu, a 42-year-old adult man, from Rosa Business Centre to Chiweshe.
The culprit, Kapawu, has appeared at Bindura Magistrate court and faced charges related to the murder case.
Reportedly, the provincial Magistrate, Tinashe Ndokera, has postponed the matter, given the next date of April 16, 2024, and allowed a thorough investigation into the matter.
The accused, Kapawu, is the sole and only witness to the incident. He was remanded in custody.

As per the sources, the Prosecutor Carson Kundiona narrated in front of the court that on March 26, 2024 around 8:00 a.m. Kapawu from Muringai village under Chief Negomo was driving his black Mazda CX5 car of the registered number AFW 3536.
Simbarashe Silas Kapawu works at Chifefe Mine in Belrock in Chiweshe. Prosecutor Kundiona said Kapawu was coming from Rosa Business Centre and was going to his village using Belrock Road.
The magistrate court heard in the hearing that Kapawu left his shotgun 12 bore the serial number 859075, charged with one live round, and laid it horizontally at the back seat.
According to the reports, the gun was in its pouch. It is alleged that at Rosa Bus Stop, accused Kapawu gave a lift to some people who were the deceased Chigede, Willard Chanakira, Mind Mugwanhira, Rebel Munokowenzou and Colleta Muchekesi.
During the hearing of the court it was heard that Chanakira sat at the front seat and Mukonowenzou sat at the back seat behind the front passenger. Whereas, Muchekesi sat next to her.
Accordingly, Mugwanhira sat next to Muchekesi and the late chigede sat on the right side behind the driver’s seat.
At the arrival of the junction of Shamuyarira Road and Belrock Road in Chiweshe, it was allegedly found that all the passengers were asked to disembark the citing that they had reached their bus stop.
As per the allegations, all other passengers managed to alight before the shotgun went off, while Chigede was still seating in the car. He was then shot on the left side above his hip.
After which Kapawu took Chigede to Howard Mission Hospital for treatment, where on the way, informed ZRP (Zimbabwe Republic Police) Chombira about the incident over the phone.
Chigede was then treated and transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals but died on the way as police attended the scene and recovered the firearm.
