South Africa: A 23 year old man has sustained serious injuries after he was shot at multiple times during a robbery. The incident took place on Old Main Road in Ottawa – KZN in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The victim of the robbery and shooting incident was at the time leaving his home for work. The victim has sustained three separate gunshot wounds as a result of the attack.
The Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 06:11. The officials proceeded to look for the victim in the vicinity of the location of the attack.
They eventually found the man in the overgrown vegetation next to the road. The officials examined the victim and found that the man had been shot twice in his abdomen and once on his left leg.
The victim, at the time of the arrival of the officers was able to talk and give them the details about of the incident. He informed Reaction Officers that he was currently working at a construction company.
He left his house in Amouti – KZN and was walking to the construction site which is situated in Ottawa – KZN. On the way, a white VW Polo suddenly stopped in front of the victim and three people exited the vehicle.
The suspects then intimidated the victim using firearms and took his Huawei cellphone and lunch bag. After this, the victims fired multiple shots at him and fled the scene, leaving the man in the
The officials recovered approximately fourteen spent 9mm cartridges from the scene of the crime. Further, the officials have shared that the victim had a large cane knife in his possession.
He told the Officers that he regularly carried the weapon for his own protection. The seriously injured male was stabilised on scene by RUSA Paramedics before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.
The officials have shared that the members of the community have also shared their views on the situation. They have expressed their concern on the wellbeing of the victim. One of the commentor said, This is so sad. Hard working people trying to make a daily living, walking to work to save money. Thank God he survived.
