Botswana: Miss Independence Kgatleng held its 9th edition of the beauty pageantry finale in Gaborone at the Masa Protea hotel. The event was hosted over the weekend for the beauties of the nation to showcase their talent and achievements.
The Ministry of Youth Sports, Art and Culture has shared some images from the pageant event on their social media. The members of the Ministry were also present at the pageant event and appreciated the talent of the youngsters.
The Ministry shared that the event aims to enhance youth empowerment through life skills training. The event aimed to promote the culture of the nation and community outreach.
The pageant was contested by nine participants who were vying for the crown of the Miss Independence Kgatleng. The officials have shared that the members of the community were happy for the success of the pageant.
Minister of Trade and Industry Mmusi Kgafela was also in attendance at the event to encourage the participants. Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture officials. industry players as well as the Kgatleng village leadership also attended the event.
When speaking at the event, Kgafela appreciated the effort made by the Director of the pageantry Lebopo Bulayani. He highlighted that it is such initiatives that curb the youth from drug and alcohol abuse as they are bestowed the responsibility of being the role models of the young ones in the community.
“I am proud to see young women walk in front of multitudes of people with confidence, and I hope it does not only end here but also, to venture into disciplines that are thought to be male dominated”. The Minister further encouraged the winners to use their influence to be ambassadors of a campaign against narcotic drugs which destroy the future of many youth.
Bame Legase was crowned as the Miss Independence Kgatleng Queen 2024/2025, Tshepang Tlotleng as the first Princess and April Lungani as the Second Princess. Moreover, Andrew Motlhaping was awarded as the Male Ambassador.
