South Africa: Cape Town Cruise Terminal was recognised as Africa’s Best Cruise Terminal 2024 at the recently held World Cruise Awards in Madeira, Portugal on Nov 26, 2024. The Cruise terminal, has recently undergone through significant upgrades and solidifies the reputation of the region as a premier global cruise destination.
Considering this, Cruise Cape Town, which is powered by Wesgro extended their wishes and congratulated the Cape Town Cruise Terminal on their achievement.
Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for cape town and the western cape, doing marketing at global level, also acknowledged the vital role of the V&A Waterfront in operating the terminal.
The award-winning Cape Town Cruise Terminal is all set to welcome over 86 ship calls this season, that will include 15 new vessels, such as the recent visit by Norwegian Dawn. It is in continuation with the public-private collaboration that strengthens Cape Town and the Western Cape’s standing as a leading cruise destination.
It will boost the local economy and will offer the visitors an unmatched opportunity to explore the mesmerising beauty of the region.
World Cruise Awards 2024 has announced the top winners and celebrated the excellence in cruise brands, destinations and terminals globally. The prestigious global initiative recognised outstanding achievements in the cruise industry and unveiled the winners of its highly anticipated 2024 awards program.
The star-studded 4th Annual World Cruise Awards Gala Ceremony was held in vibrant capital of Madeira – Funchal. It was observed that the most renowned cruise brands from across the globe gathered there at the event.
Madeira is located at the same latitude as Morocco and boasts a sub-tropical climate along with rich eco-system, captivating culture and exquisite cuisine, that makes it a prime destination for cruising enthusiasts.
The top award recipients were Norwegian Cruise Line who received ‘World’s Best Cruise Line,’ DP World Mina Rashid Dubai which recognised as ‘World’s Best Cruise Terminal,’ and Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas was honoured as ‘World’s Best Large Cruise Ship.’
Out of all it was Saudi Arabia who claimed the title of ‘World’s Best Cruise Destination’ and Austria was recognised as the ‘World’s Best River Cruise Destination.’
An year-long search was conducted for the world’s finest cruise brands. Votes were casted by industry professionals and the public, with the nominee receiving the most votes in each category who took home the most coveted award.
