Trophy Wine Show is sponsored by Investec, and it is the premier wine competition of South Africa. The event identifies the very best Cape wines, which recognizes the achievements of the winemakers of the country and honors excellence in the wine industry.

Investec, as a major investor, is excited to be part of the competition that sips through close to 800 wines to identify South Africa’s best. Investec’s support of the competition recognizes the rigor that goes into the show’s judging methodology, which makes it possible for the organizers of the show to assemble the best judges to share their expertise, through the results and the feedback session that will be followed by the judgement.
The leading private bank and wealth manager, whether locally and internationally; Investec believes that the Trophy Wine Show is a wonderful platform to celebrate excellence in the industry.
Furthermore, the event will engage discerning and sophisticated wine enthusiasts across the country. Investec is looking forward to the opportunity to present the top wines to its niche clients and the public alike.
The rules and guidelines of the show are detailed clearly in the entry kit and covers certification requirements, as the market readiness of the wines and the composition of the blends.
Results for the Trophy Wine Show 2025 will be announced in mid-June on June 09, 2025, officially at the website; within 24 hours of the wines sold via Port2Port, South Africa’s biggest online fine wine marketplace.

The judging panel has been chaired by leading wine authority Michael Fridjhon since the inception of the show. The panel comprises three international and six local judges who will cover a broad range of expertise.
A team of associate panelists will be drawn from the pool of rising South African wine-making, wine marketing and wine-writing talent who qualified via the Wine Judging Academy, run in conjunction with the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
Participation of the associates ensures that the next generation of the country’s wine judges gain experience in this most rigorous environment.
Usually, a different associate judge sits with each panel on each of the medal-judging days of the show. They participate in the tasting and the post-judging discussion, though their scores are not necessarily taken into account in the final tally.
