St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew acknowledged Minister Samal Duggins and the administration for achieving a significant milestone in the sporting development with the relaunch of the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium. The event was hosted on Saturday, July 12, 2025 and featured the Exam Revenge Primary School Competition.
PM Drew extended his wishes and congratulated all the children who participated. He also extended special commendations to St. Paul’s Primary School, the proud winners of this exciting event.

Considering this achievement, Dr. Drew appreciated Ambassador Kenneth Douglas and his team for successfully organizing this inaugural event, forging their commitment to youth development is commendable.
PM Drew also thanked the Minister of Sports – Samal Duggins and his team for their hard work in preparing the stadium. After neglecting it for years, the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Administration delivered a revitalized, internationally certified athletic facility that will serve the athletes and nation well.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Drew also recognized the valuable contributions of the St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA), the Ministry of Education, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education – Dr. Geoffrey Hanley for their continued support in ensuring the success of this initiative and their unwavering commitment to youth empowerment.
Minister Duggins leads renovation of Athletic Stadium
The newly renovated Kim Collins Athletic Stadium was led under the vision and guidance of Minister of Sports – Samal Duggins. This significant upgradation included the installation of a new Regapol certified track, LED lightning, expanded seating, refurbished changing rooms, and upgraded washroom facilities, that became necessary after the sporting facility that was left in a state of dilapidation under the former administration.
Highlight of the day was a race that featured government ministers, sports administrators and renowned national athletes.

Minister Samal Duggins also shared a statement as ‘A Track Reborn. A New Standard.’ He said that the newly refurbished Kim Collins Athletic Stadium stands as living proof that when vision meets action, the athletes and community.
Duggins revealed that for years, this track — named after one of the greatest sons — was neglected and stood in need of care. According to him, this world-class facility is ready once again to inspire, train, and launch a new generation of champions. This is what happens when leadership means doing, not just saying.
Furthermore, he congratulated St. Paul’s Primary School for claiming victory at the Exam Revenge Primary School Competition and to every school that competed and showcased the future of athletics.
He thanked them all who played a part in delivering this home for the track and field stars and said that together, they’re raising the standard, one facility at a time.
