Kenya: The Authority has successfully concluded its 26th Internal Quality Audit exercise reaffirming its commitment to quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
Reportedly, the Managing Director Captain – William Ruto addressed the closing meeting at the new conference room and commended ISO Internal Auditors, Camara team and all participants for seamlessly coordinating the weeklong exercise.
He underscored the importance of the internal Audit which was undertaken on sample basis paving the way for each Division to carry out an extent analysis ahead of the 2nd surveillance audit by KEBS that is scheduled for February 2026.
Captain William Ruto assured staff of the management continual support to ensure effective implementation of the required actions. He commended the staff for exhibiting dedication, teamwork and openness during the audit.
The General Manager of the Corporate Planning Research and Compliance – Evelyn Mwamure described the audit as a reflection, unity and shared vision for a Port Authority that leads with quality and delivers with pride.
Mwamure stated that this milestone is not just a number, it is a testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Meanwhile the Kenya Ports Authority is in the process of pursuing two more standards, namely:
- ISO 14001:2015
- ISO 45001:2018
This is based on the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) respectively.
The event was attended by the General Manager Internal Audit and Risk Assurance Dr. Fred Oyugi,Harbour Master & General Manager Marine Operations Capt. Patrick O.Ondenyi, Manager Container Operations Mr.Peter Masinde.
Manager Conventional Cargo Mr. Ali Mwambire, Manager Quality Assurance & Risk Management Coordination Mr.Samuel Ngumi, Manager Corporate Communication Mr.Jones Bucher, Manager Marketing & Customer Experience Ms. Miriam Mwakundia, Manager Conventional Cargo Engineering Mr.Cosmus Kalu,Manager Terminal Engineering Anderson Mtalaki and Manager Ferry Operations Mr. Paul Koech, were also present at the event to commemorate the 26th Internal Quality Audit.
