Cape Town’s musical icons are ready to unite in a moving tribute at the 2025 Festive Lights Switch-On event.
As the city prepares to welcome the festive season, audiences are looking forward to one of the most anticipated highlights of this 2025 Festive Lights Switch-On, as a special musical tribute performance by some of Cape Town’s most loved voices, honouring the rich cultural legacy of the city and its people’s enduring spirit of hope.
Taking centre stage for this heartfelt moment are Emo Adams, Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell, Jody Abrahams and Fancy Galada, along with the Street Stylers dancers, who will join forces in a spectacular live collaboration celebrating the music and memories that have shaped Cape Town’s soul.
The one-night-only performance will blend nostalgia with renewal, as a musical salute to unity, family, and belongings, that are perfectly echoing this year’s theme, “United in Hope.”

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said that this tribute performance embodies the heart of Cape Town as resilient, joyful, and deeply connected to the shared story. With some of the city’s most loved artists coming together to pay tribute to Cape Town’s rich and diverse legacy. It is a reminder that no matter where they come from or what they have faced, they share a common future and they rely on each other to make that future work. He said that he can’t wait to share this special moment with thousands of Capetonians.
Complementing this year’s theme, will be a breathtaking projection mapping display on the façade of Cape Town City Hall, titled ‘United in Hope’. This world-class visual production will be using brand new state of the art 25,000 lumen laser projectors.
The historic City Hall will be transformed into a glowing canvas of memory, art and imagination. The show is designed to pay homage to the resilience and humanity of Capetonians, while also looking forward with optimism to a shared and inclusive future.
Furthermore, the projection is both a visual masterpiece and an emotional narrative, merging technology and storytelling to remind Capetonians of who they are and how far they have come.

With the addition of state-of-the-art LED intelligent lighting illuminating both the stage and City Hall, this year’s production promises to dazzle from every angle. The stage itself has also been expanded by three metres, offering greater visibility of the stunning backdrop and more space for larger bands and dance performances, setting the scene for a truly spectacular experience.
This year’s Festive Lights Switch-On, to be held on Sunday, Nov 30, 2025 promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, magic and meaning. From top-tier performances to a message that resonates across generations, the event is a proud reflection of Cape Town’s identity that is diverse, dynamic and full of heart.
The City of Cape Town cordially invites families, friends and visitors to join in this extraordinary moment of unity, light and celebration as the Grand Parade and Adderley Street come alive – United in Hope.
