Cape Town to host a blockbuster weekend of sports that will feature a Vodacom URC coastal derby and the conclusion of season four of the Betway SA20. The City of Cape Town would like to advise spectators on parking arrangements and other logistics for both game days.
Reportedly, the DHL Stormers will host the Sharks at DHL Stadium on Saturday, Jan 24, 2026 in round-10 of the United Rugby Championship. Over 40,000 spectators are expected to visit the game, which is part of the Stormers’ Summer Series and will held at DHL Stadium.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that they encourage the spectators to arrive early to avoid any traffic rush. As, there’s limited parking in the Green Point precinct, so park in the CBD instead and take the free MyCiTi shuttle or the Fan Walk to get to the stadium. The City services will be working with the event organiser to manage traffic and public safety.
The gates of the stadium will open at 04:30 pm, with the match scheduled for a 07:30 pm to kick-off. A free MyCiTi shuttle service is available to ticket holders from 04:00 pm, departing from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The last bus will depart the stadium and the Green Point Precinct at 11:30 pm.
At the CTICC, the shuttle will operate from the City Sightseeing bus stop near Entrance-3 on Walter Sisulu Avenue. Approximately 1000 parking bays are available at the CTICC at a cost. Parking opens at 03:30 pm and online bookings are available to secure a spot.
For those driving into the city centre, the City of Cape Town will open its parking areas at the Civic Centre for ticket holders from 03:30 pm. The parking bays, accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking will close at midnight.
Paid parking is also available at Parkalot on Jack Craig Street and at Harbour Arch on Harbour Arch Boulevard. Off-street parking will be free from 04:00 pm on Saturdays and is also available in the CBD.
Residents and motorists are advised that Fritz Sonnenberg Road, Stephan Way, Vlei Road and Granger Bay Boulevard will be impacted from 06:00 am until after the game.
Considering the SA20 Final, the City of Cape Town is partnering with the SA20 League to host the final of South Africa’s premier T20 league at Newlands Cricket Ground on Sunday, Jan 25, 2026.
Some of the country and the world’s top cricket players have lit up the summer of cricket for season four of South Africa’s premier T20 league. The sold-out final gets under way at 03:30 pm and the Gates will open at 12:30 pm.
General parking is available at Groote Schuur Primary on Campground Road and Groote Schuur High School on Palmyra Road. Metrorail trains will be operating to Newlands Station on Sunday and will take spectators towards Cape Town and Fish Hoek post-game. Also, a return ticket will cost R20.
