Cape Town: The Human Settlements Directorate of the City of Cape Town is back on the road and as brought services directly to communities through its ongoing Human Settlements Roadshow programme.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements – Councillor Carl Pophaim said that the City Human Settlements teams were in Lotus River, this week. The team provided residents with real-time assistance and solutions to a wide range of enquiries related to Human Settlements.
Pophaim stated that the new service delivery and title deeds express bus is already making an impact in taking services to the human settlements’ customers. All Human Settlements line departments were present at the roadshow and enabled residents to access multiple services in one place, that includes:
- Housing Needs Register application enquiries
- C3 notifications and enquiries
- Public housing tenancy enquiries
- Affordable housing enquiries
- Municipal accounts enquiries
- Informal Settlements
- Homeownership
Also, the City of Cape Town proudly handed over title deeds to Lotus River beneficiaries, to assist residents with various enquiries. According to Cllr Pophaim, title deeds are more than just a piece of paper, as they represent security, dignity and a legacy for generations to come.
These roadshows proven to be extremely successful over the past few years and their popularity within the communities continues to grow. The new service bus is set to boost the efforts.
Furthermore, services were taken directly to the residents, as they are removing barriers to access and ensure that people receive the support they need, closer to home. The City of Cape Town will continue to roll out Human Settlements roadshows across the metro in the coming months, and they are looking forward to work with and assist many more communities in future.
Currently, the city is finalising the programme for visits across the metro. They will communicate the confirmed dates to residents closer to the time. This approach allows the city to complete all necessary planning and logistics to ensure that the appropriate services are available and delivered on the day of the visit.
They encouraged beneficiaries in older city housing developments, who do not have their title deeds, to contact the city office. To really drive progress, they will soon take the new Human Settlements bus into all areas of the metro.
